The longer than usual Australian Safari was run over eleven days in 1991 with the event travelling over many different types of terrain through New South Wales, Queensland, Southern Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia.
It covered 7500 kilometres, of which 3700 kilometres (or 49%) were contained in special stages with competitors (and officials) faced varying weather conditions along the course, even snowflakes and sleet at Bathurst on Day One.
